TRIDEC Annual Public Report 2012

On November 6, 2012, the convention “Transformation of data centers” organized by the Platform “Digital Networked Data” was held in Vienna.

In his opening speech Mag. Michael Wiesmüller of bmvit addressed the significance of technology platforms for the Austrian ICT landscape. DI Christian Derler of Joanneum DIGITAL and board member of the platform commented on the success of the event: “Representatives of Austrian research facilities and centers of excellence had a distinguished chance to discuss with IT-companies and operators of data centers on challenges for the economy that arise from new trends in the ICT such as ‘Big Data’, Cloud Computing and Smart Cities.”

One of the lecturers was Prof. Joachim Wächter from the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam - GFZ  German Research Centre for Geosciences who is the coordinator of the EU-funded project TRIDEC in which DIGITAL has a share.

The second TRIDEC review meeting took place from October 18 - 19 at the premises of the European Commission, EUROFORUM Building.

TRIDEC WP6 Team presents the Natural Crisis Management Demonstrator to the reviewers.

The delegates of the national Warning Centers in Lisbon and Istanbul are discussing preparations for the forthcoming NEAMWAVE exercise with the EU Reviewer Team.

Second Training Course from October 10 until 14 in Lisbon Portugal at the IPMA Instituto de Meteorologia. After the last stay at the Institute, the developers have adjusted the software because of the evaluation results and necessary implementation of NEAMWave specifications.
During the second journey an enhanced version of the TRIDEC-System was installed and configured. A training course took place which was especially designed for the NEAMWave at the end of November.
